Product of the Week – The Coyote Saddlebag
The Coyote Saddle Bag Roll Top is the rackless motorcycle luggage choice for hardcore off-road expeditions. Carry gear for overnight or multi-day trips — and still have access to the entire saddle — with the Coyote Saddlebag Roll Top mounted to the rear fender and/or tail rack of virtually any dirt bike, dual sport or enduro motorcycle. No passenger pegs required, the Coyote Saddlebag Roll Top anchors to the frame or subframe on most motorcycle makes/models — as well as snow bikes, such as Timbersled and MotoTrax. Above you’ll see the saddlebag fits well on KTM, Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha, Husqvarna dual sport bikes and even a Ducati Monster!
The Coyote Saddlebag is the perfect choice for a super light set up. Weighing in at only 4.5lbs and and yeilding 39L of carrying capacity, it includes three waterproof dry pods and a Hot Springs Heat Sheild. This bag is one of our highest selling luggage options and is the choice for some amazing riders around the world.
The Honda Africa Twin and Giant Loop Mototrekk Panniers
Jeff, from Tucker Rocky recently sent us some photos of his set up on his Honda Africa Twin. He used Givi Quick release side racks (Tucker Rocky and Givi Part #PLR1144) for mounting, looping the quick release loops of the Giant Loop Mototrekk Panniers around the 4 corners to secure.
The bags mount securely with no movement and still leave a ton of space on top of the bike for a dry bag or top case.
Jeff also uses a Fandango Tank Bag Pro on his Twin. The medium sized tank bag is 8L in capacity, waterproof and attaches securely to the bike with a harness. Two sturdy side zippers make it easy to access the fuel fill or remove the bag entirely for security.
Jenny Morgan; Dakar veteran, freelance photo-journalist, Rally Raid spokesperson and all around bad-ass lays out her packing strategy in this video.
Jenny travels with a Giant Loop Coyote Saddlebag on her Honda Rally Raid CB500 and show us just what Go Light, Go fast, Go far really means.

Product of the Week – The Great Basin Saddlebag
A trusted staple in the Giant Loop line up, the Great Basin Saddlebag is the largest in our “loop bag” collection.
We have outfitted an assortment of motorcycles with the Great Basin, and it’s currently on the backs of motorcycles around the globe. In the montage above you’ll find the Great Basin Saddlebag easily mounted on a the Honda CRF250L, Rally Raid CB500X, and Africa Twin, the KTM 1190 Adventure R, the Yamaha WR250, the KLR 650 retrofitted with a sidecar, the Suzuki tu250x, a Yamaha R6 and something random in Nepal….just to name a few.
This bag will carry all that you require for a serious expedition or comfortably carry your weekend provisions.
What we love most about the Great Basin Saddlebag is it’s verstility. This bag, rides rackless, behind the rider where the passenger would sit. The “legs” of the bag affix to the passenger foot pegs or other solid mounting point in the same area and anchors at the rear of the bike via three straps on on an existing rear rack or integrated mounting point. The is bag is 68L in capacity and is sold with three waterproof dry pods which organize gear within the bag plus make it easy to haul things to your camp spot without removing the whole loop bag. A Hot Springs Heat Shield is also included with every bag to keep the Great Basin off the pipe.
The outer material is constructed of tough 22 oz. vinyl coated polyester reinforced with ballistic nylon and, like many of our bags the Great Basin has loops added to the sides of the bag that make it easy to add Possibles Pouches or just affix items with Pronghorn Straps. The “beavertail” cinch straps can be extend to allow for a Tillamook or Rogue Dry Bag if extra capacity is required.
While Supplies last all black and white Great Basin Zippered Saddlebags ON SALE for 30% off!
Giant Loop Welcomes Motolao as an International Distributor
Motolao offers 1-14 day adventures on motorcycles and 4x4s in Laos. Their tours are offered to all abilities of rider with at least some dirt experience.
The terrain these tours go though is spectacular. It will make you start dreaming about your next international moto vacation. Winter is coming, after all.
Don’t see a video? Click here to be directed to Motolao’s You Tube Channel.
When they’re not guiding tours, the Motolao staff are putting Giant Loop gear through the paces, as muddy jungle tracks and river crossings are a regular occurrence on their personal rides.
We’re always excited to see our gear being used hard on the harshest of rides. We’re stoked to have Motolao on board to put it to test not just on their personal rides but in a rental setting where it is being used on multi-day trips over and over.
At 39L, the saddlebag fits perfectly behind the rider with room to spare for a dry bag or duffle to supplement bigger trips. Even with the passenger footpegs removed, the lower anchor points on the bag fasten nicely to the frame to keep the bag out of the way with zero movement. The shape of the Coyote lends itself well to this bike, as it angles forward instead of down thus avoiding the wide pipe.
Conveniently the Coyote fender hooks fit perfectly and positively in the Twin’s existing hard luggage mounting points.
The Giant Loop Fandango is also a great fit on this bike, sculpting well over the tank. East to access the fuel fill and see the dash instruments.
Nate is about to head out on the Washington BDR. We thing this is a great set up for his trip!
How to Pack a Small Motorcycle for BIG Adventure: Globe Crosser Steph Jeavons + Rhonda the Honda CRF250
“Oh my goodness! All packed up. Its been so long I nearly forgot how to do it! Time to move on again!” – Steph Jeavons, One Steph Beyond
Nearly a year ago, Giant Loop hosted world traveler Steph Jeavons here in Bend, Oregon for an evening slideshow of her travels on Rhonda the Honda CRF250L. While she was here we had the opportunity to upgrade her luggage and gear for another round of travel. Packing all of the essentials for months of living off a motorcycle presents challenges – especially with a relatively small bike like the Honda CRF250L. Small bikes are a specialty here at Giant Loop, and by using our modular, customizable adventure proof packing system, we were able to help Steph organize her gear into multiple small compartments, providing quick, easy access – and helping balance the load on both the front and rear of the bike.
Here’s how Steph Jeavons packs her Honda CRF250L the “go light, go fast, go far” Giant Loop way:
TAIL OF HONDA CRF250L
* Great Basin Saddlebag: Fits virtually any motorcycle built to carry a passenger, anchoring to the passenger pegs and riding on the passenger seat.
* 2 x Possibles Pouches: Tool, tubes and other gear kept handy with external pockets designed to integrate with Giant Loop’s Great Basin, Coyote and MoJavi Saddlebags – and used independently as universal tool and gear pouches.
* Columbia Dry Bag: A large bag for a small bike, but Giant Loop’s double-ended Dry Bags come in three sizes for all bike types and packing options.
FRONT OF HONDA CRF250L
* Fandango Pro Tank Bag: Roomy enough for cameras and essential gear, trim enough for off-road riding while standing on the foot pegs.
* Pannier Pockets: Integrate with Giant Loop’s Tank Bag Harness – and can be used independently – to extend gear carry capacity to the front of the bike.
* Fender Bag: A spare tube or other relatively small, lightweight essential strap onto the plastic fenders of most dirt bikes – and Giant Loop’s Fender Bag stays on, even in the roughest riding.
Customer Review: “Can’t Sing Enough Praises” About Coyote Saddlebag + Buckin’ Roll Tank Bag on Suzuki DRZ400
“I am about to make a bold statement.”
“I finally got a chance to camp with my new Coyote Roll Top Saddlebag and Buckin’ Roll Tank Bag. It’s easily the best setup I have ever owned for dual sport and I’ve damn near owned them all at this point. Can’t wait to see where you guys go with your items in the future. I can say, please keep making roll tops, and please keep the current dry bags. Really awesome features in my opinion. I noticed all the straps are about as twice as thick as any other brand I have used as well. I beat my bike to death and none of this stuff ever moved. The saddlebags already have a few drops on them and I ran into a tree with the right side too. Can’t even see a mark on it anywhere. I also noticed I can put the saddlebags super far back. I never noticed it touching my butt or back the entire time, even riding whoops standing up, and this is with a hydration pack on. This is probably the first time I’ve camped with a setup and didn’t come home not liking something about it. Seriously, can’t sing enough praises.“
“In these photos, I am packed with everything needed to tent camp basically indefinitely off the bike. I love that everything is in one place and not in 3 or 4 different bags strapped awkwardly on the back of the bike. Very clean.”

Giant Loop Rider: World Traveler Steph Jeavons on Honda CRF250L with Great Basin Saddlebag, Fandango Pro Tank Bag and Adventure Proof Motorcycle Soft Luggage
Message from Steph Jeavons: “Still loving the Giant Loop luggage😀”
Steph Jeavons has taken her Honda CRF250L further than any 250cc has been before, so far having ridden to 40 countries and covered over 55,000 miles! In March, we hosted her slide show presentation and her bike Rhonda here in Bend, Oregon. While she was here, Giant Loop had the opportunity to lighten her motorcycle and upgrade Rhonda the Honda CRF250L with our waterproof, adventure proof motorcycle soft luggage packing system: Great Basin Saddlebag, Tillamook Dry Bag, Fandango Pro Tank Bag, Possibles Pouches, Pannier Pockets and Pronghorn Straps. Go light! Go fast! Go Far!
From her website and blog:
Steph Jeavons set off from the Ace Cafe in 2014 to circumnavigate the world. She is still going, and apparently, happily lost!
Steph has been around motorbikes most of her life with both parents and one of her two sisters riding as well. Her grandmother even rode bikes during the war! Steph herself has been riding since the age of 21. I think you can safely say it’s in the blood. In 2008 she set up her own off-road motorcycle school in the UK as well as desert tours in Morocco alongside the British Dakar rider Mick Extance.
Steph has ridden across the Atlas mountains and in the Sahara five times. She has crossed the US coast-to-coast four times, got muddy in Wales with names like John McGuinness and, just once, nearly punched Carl Fogarty in the face! Steph also worked with Nick Sanders setting up his expedition centre in Machynlleth.
She left all this excitement behind to pursue her dream of riding her motorcycle to all seven continents – solo!
‘I’m certainly no expert and I don’t confess to being a demon on two wheels. This adventure isn’t about speed. It’s not really even about the bike. It’s about living, learning and enjoying! Doing this trip solo on a bike just opens up all the senses and allows me to be part of my environment.’
Steph has taken her Honda CRF250L further than any 250cc has been before, so far having ridden to 40 countries and covered over 55,000 miles! Steph has survived extreme heat, freezing conditions, landslides and wind that blew her off her bike in Patagonia. She has camped, couch-surfed and stayed with fellow bikers along the way whilst avoiding the main roads and sticking to the dirt where possible. She touched down and rode her motorbike on Antarctica in February 2015 after successfully crossing the notoriously rough Drake Passage in a small sailing yacht.
Steph has given inspirational talks to motorcycle shows, groups and communities along the way. She also currently writes for Ride Magazine and ADV Moto as she continues her journey around the world on her little dirt bike named Rhonda.

Honda Africa Twin with Fandango Pro Tank and Great Basin Saddlebag
When Rox Speed FX owner Chris took his new Honda Africa Twin for an adventure motorcycle tour this past summer, he chose Giant Loop’s Fandango Pro Tank Bag and Great Basin Saddlebag for his trip – and he sent us some great pics! You’ll notice that the large passenger handles on the Honda Africa Twin create a space between the pillion seat and the bottom or the Great Basin Saddlebag – a perfect spot to stow away an extra layer or additional riding gear.

Giant Loop Customers ‘Ride the Divide’
Giant Loop customers, Brian Shaney and Dave Wenk, have been featured in Road Runner Magazine’s September/October issue. The two took on the ultimate challenge to ride the Continental Divide on a Honda XR650L and a Suzuki DR-Z400S. They started in northern Montana and will ultimately end at the Mexican border. Stage One, featured in this article saw them launching the trip in Eureka, MT and finishing in Rawlins, Wyoming. They navigated the Montana back country, rode along Going-To-The-Sun Road in Glacier National Park, made friends with lizards, got their bones shaken by intense washboard gravel, visited a ghost town, and carved through herds of cattle, all in only the first three states of the trip.
Brian and Dave’s bikes are equipped with Giant Loop’s Coyote Saddlebag and Great Basin Saddlebag. Knowing that if they were going to on a hardcore journey like this, they needed some hardcore gear. Both bags are wrap around saddlebags that are waterproof and have 39-60 liters of carrying capacity respectivly. Rugged gear for rugged back road trips. This kind of trip is exactly what these bags were designed for, and we’re thrilled to see them trusted on such an epic adventure.
No matter where you’re going next, go light, go fast, go far.

This is Rocky Mountain Adventure Bike Touring Company’s tour bike fleet, set up with Rally Raid Product’s suspension kits, Engine Guards, Rear Racks and Side Luggage Racks. The Zigzag Handlebar Bags provide just enough room to keep tour customer’s small essentials — wallet, phone, snacks, etc. — within easy reach. Thanks Rocky Mountain Adventure Bike Touring Company!
Video: Customer Stoked On Rally Raid Honda CB500X Adventure
Happy customer, Charles, sent us a kind email explaining how thrilled he is with his Rally Raid Honda CB500X Adventure with Level 3 Kit and Rally Raid Products luggage racks and other Honda CB500 parts and accessories, including the Engine Guard, ADV Foot Pegs and Side Luggage Racks.
Charles was among Giant Loop’s first customers for the Rally Raid Honda CB500X Adventure Level 3 motorcycle build and decided to put his dual sporty adventure twin together at Piston & Chain, San Francisco’s Community Motorcycle Garage. Shout out to the Piston & Chain wrenches who helped Charles with parts of the Rally Raid build.
After completing his Rally Raid Honda CB500X Adventure, Charles visited Giant Loop at the Horizons Unlimited California Travelers Meeting last year, where he proudly showed off his bike — and he picked up a set of Giant Loop motorcycle soft luggage for his adventure touring, including the Siskiyou Panniers on his bike here.
Charles and his buddy went on a weekend trip and took the bike along: “It is a delight to ride. I could almost keep up with Ohad on his mighty 1200GS for this weekend’s remote-as-f**k trails and Hwy1 carving in Mendocino and Humboldt.”
Thanks Charles, we’re glad you’re enjoying your Rally Raid Honda CB500X Adventure!
7 Dual Sport Motorcycle Riders Equipped with Coyote Saddlebag, Fandango Tank Bag, Giant Loop Dry Bag
“Thanks Giant Loop, love your gear!!!”
Thank you! We love hearing from our happy customers all over the world everyday. Chris, John and friends recently enjoyed a trip together – all of them using Giant Loop’s adventure proof packing systems.
“That was a great ride. This is still one of the best pictures showing of Giant Loop Motorcycle Gear. Seven bikes all outfitted with GL Gear.”
Dream Roll 2016 Success Album
To say the Dream Roll 2016 was a success would be a gross understatement. Between motorcycle camping with no boys allowed, bike rides to waterfalls, tattoos in tents, free beer, and the biggest group of badass women you’ve ever seen, this weekend is one we’ll never be able to forget, even if we tried. It took place on the Flying L Ranch near Mount Adams, Washington from August 12-14 with about 200 women in attendance. Here’s a small peek into the best trip of the year:
The best crew consisted of a few women from The Litas-Bend, as well as some new friends from California. In addition to having the best crew, the best gear was also necessary. I took Giant Loop’s Honda CB500X, Diablo Tank Bag Pro, Great Basin Saddlebag, Pronghorn Straps, Possibles Pouch, Coyote Dry Pods, Tillamook Dry Bag, and Sleeping Sheath.
I packed all my clothes and food into the Dry Pods in the Great Basin, my sleeping bag, pad and sheath into the Tillamook, spare tools in the Possibles, and phone, camera, GoPro, water, and snacks into the Diablo, all packed nice and tidy on the Honda. Everything was secure the whole ride, not a single issue; the weight was nice and low, too, so I wasn’t being thrown around in the wind or thrown off balance in the beautiful Washington twisties.
The tank bag, I realized, is deceivingly large. As the smallest of the tank bags Giant Loop offers, I was skeptical, but only until I tried it. It fit my DSLR camera, phone, wallet, snacks, headphones, water bottle, AND GoPro all at once with no problem. We stopped at a gas station where I got more snacks and another water bottle, before I realized I didn’t think I had any room left. But I was wrong, I ended up fitting everything in without even straining the zipper!
Another unexpected savior was the sleeping sheath. I don’t have a tent, so I posted up in a hammock and sleeping bag under the trees, with the sleeping sheath still in the Great Basin, since I thought I wouldn’t need it. Then a fat bug fell onto me from the tree I was under, and I ran for the sheath! I zipped it up and over me and my sleeping bag, folded the top back so the mesh was over my face instead, and I swung under the stars and watched the meteor shower without fear of bugs falling on my face. It’s super lightweight, takes up almost no space, and keeps the critters out.
I met some of the absolute raddest chicks this weekend! Shout out to Ria the Welder who welds AMAZING custom sissy bars. Check out her Instagram to see her work. Then there’s Killer Kelly, who makes t-shirts that say “Support Badass Babes” and sells them on her Instagram. She’s just starting out, so message her and order a tee for only $16, and watch as she grows into an operation that sponsors badass babes in their badass adventures. Another shout out to Hinterland Empire and Wasted Times for some super cool women selling some super cool gear.
Thanks to all the sponsors, including Women’s Moto Exhibit, and everyone involved for organizing the experience of a lifetime. This is only the second year the Dream Roll has been put on, so there are many more to come! This weekend getaway is one for the books and one that we’re all going to come back to again and again. I’ve been riding for 5 years now, but never got the true biker experience by being part of a community of motorcyclists outside my dad and brother. But after this weekend I’ve found my motorcycle community and finally consider myself to be a real biker. Thanks to all the amazing ladies who rode out and made the weekend an unforgettable event. Happy riding!
Giant Loop’s Motorcycle Soft Luggage & Gear On Honda Africa Twin
Finally getting the opportunity to do some fitting on the new Honda Africa Twin. This customer rode over the Cascades from Oregon’s Willamette Valley to our shop in Bend to test fit and outfit his sweet silver Honda Africa Twin.
Giant Loop’s Kiger Tank Bag, Fandango Pro Tank Bag and Diablo Pro Tank Bag all fit the Honda Africa Twin great (GL’s motorcycle tank bags use the same harness and mount up identically). This rider went with the Fandango Pro Tank Bag, our trim mid-size dual sport and adventure touring motorcycle Tank Bag, which includes a waterproof RF welded inner liner Dry Pod, integrated electronics pass-through, mesh exterior pocket and concealed document pocket. And like all of our Tank Bags, the Honda Africa Twin’s fuel fill is easily accessed by unzipping one side of the Tank Bag from the harness.
We also test fit Giant Loop’s Siskiyou Panniers, Great Basin Saddlebag and Coyote Saddlebag – all workable options. This rider has Touratech luggage racks on order, so he chose our new rack-mounted Round The World Panniers with 18mm Happy Trails Pannier Mounting Kit hardware.
GL’s Tillamook Dry Bag – the mid-size option in our line of three double-ended RF welded Dry Bags, the Rogue Dry Bag (17 liters), Tillamook Dry Bag (38 liters) and Columbia Dry Bag (70 liters) – and our Zigzag Handlebar Bag completes his adventure proof packing system. Add some Pronghorn Straps to keep everything tight and tidy.

Tech Tips for installing and changing oil with the Rally Raid Engine Guard
Giant Loop owner, Harold Olaf Cecil, explains the features of the new Round The World Panniers, Giant Loop’s 90+ liter alternative to aluminum panniers and hard luggage for motorcycles. Designed for adventure touring and backcountry dual sport travel – as well as motorcycle touring and motorcycle commuting – these feature rich, ultra rugged, stable, lightweight soft panniers mount to virtually any motorcycle luggage rack with flat, vertical sides using the rack manufacturer’s hardware.
Mounting hardware is not included, so riders can choose the best option for their luggage rack system. Giant Loop offers the Touratech Mounting Pucks, which fit most racks constructed of 18mm tubing, as well as the Happy Trails Pannier Mount Kits, which fit racks with a variety of flat and round tubing in an array of sizes.
Round The World Panniers™ combine rack-mounted convenience with the benefits of soft luggage for long haul adventure motorcycle travelers. Waterproof, lightweight, super stable and built to take the punishment of off-road riding, the Round The World (RTW) Panniers deliver 90+ liters of packable volume and weigh just 13 pounds. Main compartment rolls closed, additional gear can be secured to outside of Panniers with compression wings, and two huge pockets (one roll-top, one open top with draw cord) provide quick access to essentials. Includes two waterproof inner liner Dry Pods.

Customer, Nate Hurley, Rides and Camps Giant Loop Through John Day On Honda CB500X
Nate Hurley decided to take a weekend motorcycle camping trip in a big loop around John Day; here are the results:
Giant Loop Customers Travel San Diego to Cabo and Back on Honda XR650Ls
A happy customer, Brad Davis, sent us an update on his recent trip to Baja with his friend. They used the Giant Loop Coyote Saddlebag and the Rubber Boa Straps on their trip across deserts and dunes. Here’s what he says:
“Our Baja trip was the best vacation I have ever taken. Just two guys on Honda XR650L’s riding from San Diego to Cabo and back. We did 2,200 miles over nine days. The Coyote Saddlebags functioned amazingly and were able to carry everything we needed to camp and live for the entire trip. The bags carry weight well and did not noticeably affect how the bike handled. The Rubber Boa Straps were extremely useful and were perfect for carrying a quart of oil or a bottle of tequila.
The trip got better and better every day. We spent one night in a palapa on the beach in San Felipe. We hit 95mph on the salt flats going to Scorpion Bay (the XR wouldn’t go any faster). We rode with the Dessert Assassins Rip to Cabo on a rough section of trail into La Paz. We partied with Playboy models in Cabo. We camped deep in the sand dunes outside of Guerrero Negro. We got lost trying cross the desert at night. And finally made it back to San Diego without any major issues and some great memories.
Great Basin Saddle Bags – They really do fit virtually anything designed to carry a passenger, even scooters
Giant Loop customer Joel, recently took an amazing Italian adventure….on his scooter.
See his account below, and how he’s retrofitted the Giant Loop Great Basin Saddlebags to suit his ride.
We have been on the road for 2 months and 3000 km, with all the clothes for two people stashed in the three dry pods. Although we have not been riding in the rain (much), the bag has seen a lot of rain this spring and so far no leaks when it is properly closed.
The “motorcycle” is a little unconventional: a scooter. This made it a bit difficult to fit the bag on, as the usual exposed parts in a real motorcycle are all covered with plastic on a standard scooter. However, inside of the plastic the frame is not all that different. I had to create a couple of stainless-steel cable loops to extend the passenger foot peg frame inside the plastic so that they could be accessible.
In addition, the standard scooter has a filler cap beneath the seat, so it was pretty important that I be able to get the bag off quickly when we fill up (every 200-250 km or so).
Most scooters have a bit of a plastic frame behind the seat which is used to attach a top box, and on the Honda this is where I was able to hang on the straps for attachment. Overall, it takes me about a minute to loosen them and flop the bag down for gas tank access, which is not bad at all.
Since I had to buy the stainless cable to make the loops, I also used it to make a security cable to hold the bag in place when we are parked. I put a small padlock on the end to keep it in place.
So far, no one has tried to get into it as far as I can tell, or pull it off the scooter. I strapped a Possibles Pouch on the outside to hold a water bottle and my sunglasses case, and it is working great. We have been on the road for 2 months and 3000 km, with all the clothes for two people stashed in the three dry pods. Although we have not been riding in the rain (much), the bag has seen a lot of rain this spring and so far no leaks when it is properly closed.
Thank you Joel!
How have you fit your Giant Loop Gear to your ride of choice? We’d love to hear from you.

Rally Raid Products Honda CB500 Production Update
From Rally Raid:
Good News, we have started production of rear hubs!!
We thought that you would like to know the latest news from Rally Raid Products and the CB500 project. Some of you will be eagerly awaiting the news that we will be ready to start taking orders on our Level 1 and Level 3 Adventure Kits, with wheels in both black and gold. Giant Loop will now have a small number available, with more to follow.
Earlier in the year we took the decision to stop taking orders for the wheel kits. Honestly, we just couldn’t keep up the orders, the hubs were taking far too long to manufacture, and were taking all our machining time for other Honda and KTM billet products.
We have invested in a CNC lathe that will manufacture the hubs in a 1/3 the time they were taking on the CNC milling machine, thus freeing up the milling machine for triple clamps, bar risers, top clamps and all the other billet parts that we design and make in house at Rally Raid Products
We will be at the UK HUBB Meeting form the 16th – 19th June, hoping to meet some of you there, Jenny Morgan will be there to talk about her recent trip to the US with Giant Loop’s Harold Olaf Cecil and Juan Browne the maker of so many You Tube videos on the Honda CB500X.
