Test fitting the KTM 390 Adventure Part Three — “Weekend Plus!”

We offer have many options depending on the length of the ride and how much gear riders require to be safe, comfortable and self-reliant…

For this round, we outfitted the KTM 390 Adventure  for a weekend or longer ride: Coyote Saddlebags expanded with Possibles Pouch, Fandango Tank Bag, Zigzag Handlebar Bag and Bushwackers Hand Guards

Giant Loop designs our motorcycle soft luggage as a modular, customizable packing system – pieces can be added and subtracted as needed. Bags can be scaled up or down depending on bike type or riding requirements…

KTM 390 Adventure Makes a Perfect Fit for Giant Loop Gear

By | Adventure Touring, bike packing, Blog, Dry Bags, Dualsport, Enduro, Fitment, Giant Loop Gear, KTM, Panniers, Photos, Riders, Saddlebags, Straps, Tank Bags, Tech Tips

Local rider and good friend Kathy let GL use her brand new 2020 KTM 390 Adventure to model our gear. This bike is a great “bang for the buck” — super quiet and stealthy. And less than $8,000 out the door!

We ran through a few different combos — mixing and matching Great Basin Saddlebags, Coyote Saddlebags, MoJavi Saddlebags with our Fandango, Diablo and Buckin’ Roll Tank Bags, Zigzag Handlebar Bag, Pannier Pockets, Rogue Dry Bag, Possibles Pouch, Bushwackers Hand Guards and Lift Straps

Test fitting KTM 390 Adventure“Personally, my favorite combo because it’s well proportioned to the bike is Coyote (expands with Rogue and Possible Pouches), Diablo (expands with Pannier Pockets) – plus Zigzag and Possibles Pouches on crash bars if more storage is needed.”Harold Olaf Cecil, Founder of Giant Loop

Thanks Kathy!

Paddling With a Possibles Pouch

By | Blog, Dry Bags, Dualsport, Giant Loop Gear, paddlesports, Photos, Tech Tips

Imagine the possibilities of a GL Possibles Pouch! Seen here fishing from a paddle board on the Deschutes

“Fishing from my paddle board on the Deschutes just upstream from Bend – my favorite stretch to paddle, but it’s sort of just playing around because it’s really tough to control the board and the fly line!”GL founder and owner, Harold Olaf Cecil

ADV Rider Review: A Tale of Two Tank Bags

By | Adventure Touring, bike packing, Blog, Enduro, Giant Loop Gear, New Product, Reviews, Side By Side, Tank Bags, Tech Tips

Up in New Brunswick, Canada, Adventure Rider Zac makes a good comparison of Diablo and Buckin’ Roll Tank Bags…

“Tank Bags are some of the most useful pieces of kit you can add to a motorcycle, offering streamlined cargo capacity that’s quickly accessible. Over the past year, I’ve run two Giant Loop Tank Bags. Before I left for Labrador last year, Giant Loop sent me a Diablo Tank Bag, and this spring, they sent me the updated Buckin’ Roll Tank Bag. They’re similar, but they’re designed for slightly different roles.” Zac Kurylyk

Africa Twin With MotoTrekk Panniers and a Klamath Tail Bag

Check out these great photos of a rider’s Honda Africa Twin with MotoTrekk Panniers and a Klamath Tail Bag from advrider.com

MotoTrekk Panniers

“Added some SW Motech Pro luggage racks to my Africa Twin and strapped on the GL MotoTrekk Panniers. In my estimation, these are nearly perfect as a mid size soft pannier. They look and work great on the AT and compliment the Klamath Tail Bag.Wind_Rider, advrider.com

Nice setup — thanks for sharing!

“Giant Loop is not just for adventure and enduros. I have had your Zigzag Handlebar Bag for over a year and it’s a must have for any bike. I recently added the Klamath Tail Bag with the Tail Rack. It’s a great setup and amazing quality at a great price it’s just the right amount of storage without being too large. The upgraded straps are fantastic. Thanks Giant good stuff!” — Ron Eiermann

New Bushwackers Hand Guards!

By | Adventure Touring, Blog, Deals, Dirt bike, Dualsport, Enduro, Giant Loop Gear, New Product, Overland, Snow, Snow Bike, Snowmobile, Straps, Tech Tips, trail bike

Get ready for fall! GL is introducing two new styles of Bushwackers Hand Guards — one with a topo map theme and the other with a pine forest motif…

Both designs feature our new 18″ Pronghorn Straps — 3″ longer than the previous version to accommodate a wider array of deflectors and handlebars.

We call them “hand savers” as they keep hands dry up to forearm while riding in rain. Keep controls cleaner, drier, warmer and more comfortable in dirt, mud, rain, snow and brush. The new straps fit virtually every bike and deflector combo on the market — are easier to install and remove and are better suited to off-road riding. They pack flat to stow until needed — mounted and removed in just a minute. Perfect for adventure touring, dual sporting, trail riding, off-road racing, snow biking and snowmobiling.

MTK Reviews Round the World Panniers

By | bike packing, Blog, Dry Bags, Fitment, Giant Loop Gear, Indian, Panniers, Reviews, Tech Tips

Our friend Wes who writes for BMW Owners News Magazine makes great videos and does an excellent podcast as well. Here he unboxes GL’s Round The World Panniers and Pannier Mounts

“When you only get one pannier, it better be a good one. Find out what comes in the kit when you order a Round the World Pannier and Pannier Mount from Giant Loop. Giant Loop sells these in pairs if your bike takes two! The RTW Pannier is a universal fit for any and all motorcycles, I just happen to have gotten one for my Indian FTR 1200 S.” Wes Fleming, Motorcycle Test Kitchen

Round the World Panniers and Pannier Mounts Reviewed

By | bike packing, Giant Loop Gear, Honda, News, Panniers, Reviews, Tech Tips

Check out this review of GL Round The World Panniers and Pannier Mounts written by Aaron Demo for ADV Motorcycle

“When it comes to soft luggage, there are many options on the market, with a wide range of prices and features. Having returned from a weeklong trip with hard panniers and struggling with packing issues, I went looking for a set of soft luggage with more room than my current hard bags. I also wanted something with compartmented storage options that are easy to get on and off the bike. Enter the Giant Loop Round The World Panniers and Pannier Mounts.”

“These bags are heavy duty and the construction quality is on point. Once the bags were mounted to the GL Pannier Mounts, it only took a couple of minor adjustments to the mounting brackets and they locked up perfectly to the pannier racks already installed on my Africa Twin.”

“To remove the bags, it’s a simple one-handed operation and all it takes is a pull of the lever on the top of the mount, and they lift right off with the handle built into the luggage. The total weight of both bags and mounts comes in at 15 pounds, about five pounds less than my current hard panniers, which don’t have a quick-release mount.” Aaron Demo, ADV Motorcycle

2020 Giant Loop Ride

By | Adventure Touring, Camping, Events, FAQ, News, Riders, travel

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE 9TH ANNUAL GIANT LOOP RIDE IS ON — LET’S GO!

9th Annual Giant Loop Ride is September 18-20, 2020 in Crystal Crane Hot Springs, Oregon, USA…

Deadline is Friday for a cancellation/refund and to sign up without paying the extra $50 for late registration.

2020 Giant Loop Ride

We’ll have to do things a little differently this year, and we do need everyone’s full support and cooperation following State of Oregon mandated precautions, such as maintaining social distancing guidelines in camping areas, and the newly updated soaking pond. Mask required indoors. No self-service beverages in reusable containers. Minor stuff. A trifling inconvenience at most…

REFUND DEADLINE IS NOW! Extended until FRIDAY, AUGUST 7 — REQUEST A REFUND HERE

We are happy to issue a refund on your deposit or payment, or you may leave it as a credit on your account to apply toward a purchase or future ride. But please do it now, because we have to give Francis at The Smokin’ Pit a headcount for his signature BBQ chicken and smoked prime rib dinners…

BUT THERE’S STILL TIME TO JOIN US — SIGN UP HERE

We have more than 150 people registered and we will continue to accept sign ups through this Friday. After that, an additional $50 Late Registration fee applies.

WE NEED YOUR FULL COOPERATION

For the health and safety of all, we follow these guidelines and we need 100% compliance and cooperation from all riders in order to make the Giant Loop Ride happen this year.

OSHA General Guidance for All Workers and Employers:

— Frequently wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. When soap and running water are unavailable, use an alcohol-based hand rub with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands that are visibly soiled.

— Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.

— Practice good respiratory etiquette, including covering coughs and sneezes.

— Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

— Stay home if sick.

— Recognize personal risk factors. According to U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), certain people, including older adults and those with underlying conditions such as heart or lung disease or diabetes, are at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19.

And for the protection of eastern Oregon’s rural population, please respect these State of Oregon mandates:

— Masks, face shields and face coverings are currently required statewide for indoor public spaces (for example, grocery stores, pharmacies, public transit, personal services providers, restaurants, bars, retail stores, and more). In addition, face coverings are required in outdoor public spaces when physical distancing is not possible.

— Children age 5 and up are required to wear a face covering. People with a disability or medical condition may request accommodation from the business if they cannot wear one.

IF FOR ANY REASON YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMPLY WITH THESE GUIDELINES AND RECOMMENDATIONS, PLEASE REQUEST A REFUND NOW!

Thank you!

Check out this informative review by Joe at RevZilla

“Running out of gas is a problem, and it’s totally avoidable if you bring a little extra! Giant Loops’ Fuel Safe Bladder is an excellent way to add additional fuel storage to your motorcycle, and its compact size means you can easily stow it away when not in use.” — Joe Zito at RevZilla
