By | Adventure Touring, Dualsport, Enduro, FAQ, Fitment, Riders, Saddlebags, Suzuki, Tech Tips, travel

Just got an email from our friend and colleague Keith Larkin, from White’s Power Sports in New Zealand and Australia. Every year, he and his buddies fly to the USA and take their stored Suzuki DRZ400s on a Backcountry Discovery Routes adventure:

“I am just back this week from riding the Southern California, Arizona and New Mexico Backcountry Discovery Routes, with the same crew and bikes as last year – all using Giant Loop. Man you make a fantastic product! We rode over to Houston and stored our bikes for the 2 East Coast BDR routes next year.”

By | FAQ, Fitment, holiday gifts for motorcyclists, New Product, Snow, Snow Bike, Snowmobile, stocking stuffers, Tech Tips, under $60

Confirmed: Tracker Packer is compatible with Garmin’s flagship GPSMAP 66i handheld GPS, 2-way satellite communicator and emergency SOS unit! Our Garmin rep just stopped by the GL ADV Shop in Bend, Oregon, and we had the chance to confirm that our Tracker Packer for Garmin fits the 66i units. It is also compatible with Garmin’s inReach Mini, inReach SE/Explorer/Explorer+.

Stay safer in the backcountry with help the push of a button away. The Tracker Packer holster secures the unit to backpack strap or upper arm, keeping the device with the user, even in the case of a crash or other mishap. We donate a portion of Tracker Packer sales to the Kurt Caselli Foundation.

Easy Access to KTM 690 Enduro Fuel Fill with Giant Loop’s Tail Rack + Saddlebags

By | Adventure Touring, FAQ, Fitment, KTM, New Product, Saddlebags, Tech Tips, under $60

EASY ACCESS TO KTM 690 Enduro Fuel Fill with GL Tail Rack + Saddlebag

Great feedback from Back Country MC in Norway fitting new Giant Loop Tail Rack on KTM 690 Enduro with GL’s Saddlebags:

“Here are two pics of my 690 with the Tail Rack and Great Basin Saddlebag. Coyote Saddlebag fits even better. No problems fitting the Tail Rack to the 690, as the design consists of a plastic fender that mounts and hooks down the tank and the tail/sub fender. There is room for mounting the four screws between the filler neck and the taillights/ cable harness. I have chosen to mount it as the pictures show. The other way around is also possible but then it must be moved a tad more back. With the tail rack it is also very easy to move the Great Basin/Coyote even more back, so it covers the filler. It’s very easy to loosen the rear anchor strap when filling gas and then re-tightening afterwards.”

NOTES: Saddlebag anchor straps can be clipped into Tail Rack’s wire gates for even faster access to fuel! Also, MoJavi Saddlebag fits exactly the same as Coyote Saddlebag if you’re looking to lighten your pack for day rides.

Tech Tip: Installing Double Take Mirrors on KTM 790 Adventure

By | FAQ, Fitment, holiday gifts for motorcyclists, KTM, stocking stuffers, Tech Tips
KTM 790 TIP: Use the Yamaha adapter to install the Double Take Mirror on the right perch of the 790, which threads in reverse! Thanks for confirming Mike Chesney! And if you haven’t already, take those stock mirrors off, store them safely in a box for when you sell the bike, and install Double Take Mirrors, which fold out of the way and are far less likely to break.

Coyote Saddlebag in Morocco on Yamaha Tenere 660

By | Adventure Touring, Fitment, Giant Loop Gear, Reviews, Saddlebags, Yamaha

Great email from customer Marck B. from Washington:

“You may remember me: I was in your shop a month ago for the Coyote Saddlebag. I ended up taking the Coyote bag in a 10-day trip around Morocco.

It’s the best bag ever, attached to a Yamaha 660 it withstood sand storms in Sahara, as well as heat and rain. Mounting takes just minutes and it holds everything I needed to travel for 10 days.

Couple of photos attached. Notice the camels behind the bike and the sand storm.”
