A Giant Loop customer asked us about Siskiyou Panniers fitment on the Suzuki V-Strom 1050, and our local dealer Pro Caliber happened to have the exact bike right there, in stock! Since GL hasn’t yet had the chance to fit these sharp-looking bikes, we made sure to get some detailed photos. Verdict: Fit is good — no luggage rack required!
Fit would be better with the stock grab handles/tail rack removed and replaced with a trim aftermarket tail rack, but especially for road riding and light duty gravel roads adventures, there are plenty of handy solid anchor points. For more demanding off-road riding, adding supplemental connections between the webbing daisy chains on the wheel side of the panniers and the exhaust hanger and OE luggage mounts will help prevent the panniers from swinging into the wheel zone…
Taking advantage of the stock luggage mounts to strap on a Possibles Pouch would add support and stability. Siskiyou Panniers include two Hot Springs Heat Shields, so the pannier can rest on the top of the exhaust with no issues…
Great Basin Saddlebag fit on the V-Strom 1050 is pretty good, even with the big grab handles. The Great Basin conforms around the handles with no issue, but it does leave a gap between the seat and the saddlebag. On your bikes taller pillion seat, the gap would be smaller. The gap has no negative functional impact, and gear can be secured under the saddlebag to fill the gap, too…
